Many workers and maintenance contractors in the industrial and commercial facilities work has been subjected to dangerous levels of asbestos in the workplace.

Many workers and maintenance contractors in the industrial and commercial facilities work has been subjected to dangerous levels of asbestos in the workplace. Asbestos is a known carcinogen and the main cause of mesothelioma cancer. Types of construction sites where asbestos has occurred to include oil refineries, power plants, steel mills and chemical plants, to name a few. They all have a "high temperature" environments where the use of fire and heat resistant materials is required, whether in factories or construction equipment or protective clothing to employees were required to wear in certain areas (such as fireproof gloves and aprons). Today, despite the use of asbestos was banned in the U.S., many existing industrial and commercial structures may still contain some level of asbestos. It is important that appropriate security measures to be taken, if necessary, to prevent adverse impacts and mitigate the risk of mesothelioma.
